Kim L. McCummings

Kim L. McCummings is Executive Vice President at Eastern Point Consulting Group, Inc. a management consulting firm specializing in helping organizations manage change effectively. Eastern Point offers expertise in the managing a diverse workforce, organizational development and strategic change management.

Ms. McCummings has over fifteen years experience in the field of Human Resource Management. She directed Management Development programs for middle and senior level managers for a large financial institution and was an internal consultant on diversity issues. She has also served as the Director of Training and Development for a national health care provider. She has demonstrated particular expertise in diversity, change management, management development, and retention strategies in financial services, legal, health care, retail, higher education and non-profit environments.

Examples of Ms. McCummings' work include:

  • Consulted to a northeast financial services corporation on the establishment and implementation of a sustainable diversity initiative. The consultation included an organizational diversity assessment, consultation to senior managers, design and delivery of an orientation for the diversity committee, a pilot diversity awareness program targeting all employees and a train-the-trainer program. As a result the organization has internalized the diversity training function, established internal diversity resources, examined policies and practices, and where appropriate, suggested changes to enhance employee development and customer relations.
  • Designed and delivered diversity awareness programs for an international multi-office law firm. Programs were tailored to the diversity needs of each office based on the findings of a firm wide cross level assessment.
  • Provided consultation and training on mentoring to the computer curriculum division of a major publishing company. The program focused on national sales managers and included a module on the linkage between professional development and retention.
  • Provided consultation and training to the Director of Learning and Development and the Learning and Development Diversity Steering Committee a Fortune 100 retail corporation. Created customized tools for managers to address retaining and developing a diverse workforce, sourcing and recruiting talent and managing backlash and resistance. Designed and delivered a train-the-trainer program which enabled the client to conduct internal programs on an as needed basis.
  • Conducted a diversity audit for a state mental health agency and consulted to the Regional Director and management team on developing strategies to address issues from the findings.

In addition to providing consultation, Ms. McCummings has developed and presented training programs in Performance Management, Interviewing and Selection Skills, Mentoring, Coaching, Transition Management and Harassment Prevention. She has delivered programs through the Boston Management Consortium and is a member of the National Organization Development Network and the American Society for Training and Development.
